STEP 1.
Begin drawing Hellboy by making a large circle for the head and then sketch in the facial guidelines like so.
STEP 2.
You will now begin drawing out the mean, expressive eyebrows which have many sharp angles. Draw the eyeballs, and then draw in the small but pointed tipped nose.
STEP 3.
Now is the time that you draw in Hellboy's very large, over exaggerated jaw structure. As you can see you will begin the line work just under the left eyebrow. Once that is done, you can sketch out the shape of the jaw which is over-biting the top part of the mouth. Next, draw the right ear, and then draw the beard zigzag too. Add some detailing for his teeth before leaving this step.
STEP 4.
Next, draw in the cut off horns, and then draw in the lining that shapes out the beard. Notice how the chin only has a chunk of hair for his beard, this is a goat-tee style. Sketch a crease line on his cheek and proceed on.
STEP 5.
You will now draw the rest of Hellboy's head, and then make the little ponytail. Sketch out the thick, muscular neck, and add the detailing for his bones and such.
STEP 6.
The line art will look like this when you are all done. All you have to do is either color him in, or start the shading process. If you decide to shade in Hellboy, start with adding the dark base for all the hair including facial hair. Shade the eyes and teeth too.
STEP 7.
Add more darkening all over his face and body, and then add some lighter darker shades on the right side of the face.
STEP 8.
Add color to the background, and tweak the sketch and shading. Now you are all done.
